What is MonadBFT?
MonadBFT is Monad's pipelined Byzantine fault tolerant consensus protocol, responsible for ordering blocks quickly and finalising them within about 600 milliseconds.
MonadBFT is derived from HotStuff-style protocols with pipelining, so a new block can be proposed while the previous one is still being voted on. Execution is decoupled from consensus: validators agree on transaction order first and execute afterwards, which removes execution time from the critical path of block production.
