What is Monad?
Monad is a high-performance, EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain that uses optimistic parallel execution and the MonadBFT consensus to reach 300 ms blocks, 600 ms finality, and a 10,000 transactions-per-second design target.
Monad keeps full compatibility with Ethereum bytecode and tooling, so Solidity contracts, Hardhat, Foundry, and MetaMask work unchanged. Its mainnet chain ID is 143 and its testnet chain ID is 10143. The native token is MON. Distinctive engineering choices include asynchronous execution (consensus and execution are decoupled), a custom state database called MonadDb, a 128 KB contract size limit, and fees charged on the gas limit rather than gas used.
