What is EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine)?
The EVM is the runtime that executes smart contract bytecode on Ethereum and every EVM-compatible chain, defining opcodes, gas costs, and the rules of state changes.
A chain is called EVM-compatible when it can run the same bytecode and expose the same JSON-RPC interface, so existing tooling (wallets, compilers, libraries) works unchanged. Monad is fully EVM bytecode compatible while replacing the execution engine underneath with a parallel, pipelined design.
